How to set up a Text Area

To set up a Text Area

Step 1.

  • Drag the Text Area icon from the Forms tab of the Palette to your table cell, or double-click the icon in the Palette.

Step 2.

  • Select the placeholder in the document window, and set the options in the Form Text Area Inspector.

Step 3.

  • In the Name text box, type in a name to identify the text area.

Step 4.

  • In the Rows text box, type in the number of rows to decide the maximum height of the text box.

Step 5.

  • In the Columns text box, type in the number of characters to determine the width of the visible text area.

Step 6.

  • Choose the appropriate option from the Visible pop-up menu to control the line breaks:

    1. Default is the default text area to set the browser.

    2. Off will instruct the browser to ignore the Columns limit and prevent text entered into the text area from wrapping at the right margin of the box.

    3. Virtual and Physical will instruct the browser to respect the Columns limit.
