How to preview Cascading Style Sheets

To preview Cascading Style Sheets

The Layout View Controller contains a selection of tools for previewing pages formatted with cascading style sheets.

      1. Preview elements with negative margin values.

      2. Preview a page on multiple platforms.

To use CSS options in the Layout View Controller:

Step 1.

  • In Layout view, click on the Eye button in the upper right corner of the document window to open the Layout View Controller.

Step 2.

  • Select Use Style-Sheets to toggle CSS formatting on and off and check if the page looks acceptable in plain HTML.

Step 3.

  • Select Allow overlapping paragraphs to preview the elements with negative margin values grow into the adjacent elements.

Step 4.

  • Select the options from the Root menu one by one to simulate the look of your page in Windows-based or Macintosh-based browsers.

  • This previewing feature is based on the default style sheets stored in the CSS tab of the Web Database.

Step 5.

  • Select an option from the Links menu to mark up hyperlinks with extra CSS formatting.

Step 6.

  • And then choose the option from the Mark Style menu to mark elements formatted with classes or IDs.

Step 7.

  • After that select an option from the Links menu to mark tags formatted with tag selectors.
