How to create a site by importing from an FTP Server

To create a site by importing from an FTP Server

You can download existing files from an FTP server and create a new site. First of all, you have to establish your FTP settings, and then select the home page on the remote web server.

Specify the target folder on your hard disk, connect to the server, and start the file transfer process. After that a site document will be created.

To import a site from an FTP server:

Step 1.

  • First of all, you have to choose the File tab from the menu bar and select New Site. After that click Import Site from FTP.

Step 2.

  • Specify the following information:

    1. FTP address specified by your ISP for the Web Server that you want to download.

    2. Directory Path is the required folder on the Web server. For Server, you have to select the FTP server. Click Browse to initiate a server connection.

    3. Specify your User ID. Type in your Personal Password.

    4. The number of the port you use to access your Web server. 21 is frequently used as the number of the port.

Step 3.

  • Select the home page on the remote server by clicking Browse to start the server connection and navigating to the home page.

Step 4.

  • Select the target folder in which you want to create a new web site.

Step 5.

  • Click OK to start downloading. It will create an untitled site document and displays the files of the newly downloaded site in the site window.

Step 6.

  • Save the site document.
